FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How it works. What you get. What it costs.

How do I convert an MP3 to guitar tabs?+

Upload your MP3 file to audio2guitar.com. The AI separates the guitar from the mix, detects every note and chord, maps them to fret positions, and generates tablature. You get tabs, chord diagrams, and synced lyrics in a few minutes. No music theory knowledge required.

Can I get guitar tabs for Suno or Udio AI songs?+

Yes. Audio2Guitar works with any audio file, including songs generated by Suno, Udio, and other AI music tools. Export your AI song as MP3, upload it, and get playable guitar tabs, chords, and lyrics. Since AI-generated songs are unique, no tab library will ever have them.

How accurate are the AI-generated guitar tabs?+

Accuracy depends on the audio. Clean recordings with prominent guitar produce highly accurate tabs. Full-band mixes work well because the AI isolates the guitar first. Very dense, heavily distorted, or low-quality audio may need minor manual corrections. Chords are detected with over 170 chord types.

What audio formats does audio2guitar support?+

Free users can upload MP3 files. Pro users can upload MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG, and AAC. These cover the standard export formats from DAWs, streaming downloads, AI music generators like Suno and Udio, and phone recordings.

Is audio2guitar free?+

Yes. You get 3 full song transcriptions completely free with tabs, chords, and lyrics. No credit card required. The Pro plan at $6.99/month (or $49.99/year) gives you unlimited songs, all audio formats, MIDI export, PDF/print, speed control, separated stem downloads, and per-stem MIDI.

How does AI guitar tab transcription work?+

The process has several stages: (1) AI source separation isolates the guitar from other instruments, (2) a guitar-specific model detects individual note pitches and timing, (3) a beam search algorithm maps pitches to optimal fret positions on the guitar neck, (4) chord detection identifies 170+ chord types, (5) technique detection finds hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, and bends, (6) lyrics are transcribed and time-aligned.

What can I export from audio2guitar?+

Pro users can export MIDI, print or save as PDF, and download separated stems (vocals, bass, drums, guitar, piano) as MP3 plus per-stem MIDI for use in any DAW. Free users can view tabs, chords, and lyrics in the interactive web player.

Can I download separated stems and MIDI?+

Yes, on Pro. Download vocals, bass, drums, guitar, and piano as separated MP3 stems, plus per-stem MIDI for any of those parts. Useful for remixing in your DAW, replacing instruments, or learning a single part in isolation.

How long does transcription take?+

Most songs are processed in 3 to 6 minutes depending on length and complexity. Longer songs (over 5 minutes) or dense arrangements may take longer. Processing happens on GPU servers, so it does not depend on your device speed. You can close the browser and come back later.

Does it work with full band recordings, not just solo guitar?+

Yes. Audio2Guitar uses AI source separation to isolate the guitar from vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments before transcribing. You can upload a full studio recording, a live performance, or a Suno/Udio track with multiple instruments.

Can I get tabs for worship or church songs?+

Yes. Most worship and church songs are not in tab libraries, especially specific recordings from your church. Upload any worship recording and get guitar tabs, chords above lyrics, and chord diagrams. Works with live recordings, streaming audio, and rehearsal captures.

How does audio2guitar compare to Ultimate Guitar or Songsterr?+

Ultimate Guitar and Songsterr are tab libraries with user-submitted tabs for popular songs. They only have tabs for songs someone has already transcribed. Audio2Guitar generates tabs from any audio file, including original songs, AI-generated music, obscure recordings, and songs not in any library.

What guitar techniques does audio2guitar detect?+

The AI detects hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, bends (with bend amount), vibrato, and palm mutes. These are annotated in the tablature so you can see exactly how to play each note, not just which fret to press.

Can I slow down the audio playback?+

Pro users can adjust playback speed from 25% to 100%. That includes 25% (quarter speed) for breaking down fast passages, all the way to full tempo. The tabs stay synced to the audio and pitch remains correct at every speed.

Is there an app for converting audio to guitar tabs?+

Audio2Guitar is a web app that works in any browser on desktop or mobile. No download or installation required. Upload your audio file at audio2guitar.com and get tabs, chords, and lyrics directly in your browser.
