WHERE TUNING DETECTION GETS CORRECTED
Every transcription gets an automatically detected tuning, and players can change it. We record what we guessed and what they chose. Across 8 May - 5 August 2026 we completed 8,532 transcriptions and someone changed the tuning on 789 of them — 9.2%.
Counting only the first change on each song, so the comparison is against our verdict rather than the player's own earlier pick. On 502 songs we said standard and the player disagreed; on 220 we named an alternate tuning and they put it back; on 67 they swapped one alternate tuning for another.

Every figure on this page is also available as a CSV. Read this as the rate at which players corrected the tuning, not the rate at which it was wrong. Anyone who did not notice, or who gave up, is not in these numbers, so the real error rate is higher by an amount this data cannot show. Separately, on 23songs the pipeline identified drop C, drop C♯, drop B or drop A — tunings the selector does not yet offer, so the player had to settle for the nearest one available. What this means when you are learning a song.
