About Udio
Udio is a generative music model with a focus on long-form output and clean genre rendering. Like Suno, it produces full audio tracks from a text prompt.
Udio tends to produce smoother instrumental beds and tighter mix balance than other consumer generators, which helps source separation. Tempo stability is generally strong; chord progressions are usually diatonic but extended chord voicings are common in jazz and lo-fi prompts.
Output format: wav or mp3 download depending on tier.
About Pop on guitar
Pop centers on vocal melody and chorus hooks; guitar typically supports rather than leads. The chord vocabulary is small but the arrangements use texture, dynamics, and section contrast to keep three-chord songs interesting across 3-4 minutes.

Chord vocabulary
I-V-vi-IV (the 'Axis' progression), I-vi-IV-V, frequent use of vi as a tonal center; add9 and sus chords for color.
Common techniques
Transcribing Udio pop
Many modern pop tracks use guitar samples and layered production rather than a single performed guitar take. The transcription target is usually a simplified, playable version that captures the chord progression and main riff, not a literal rendering of every guitar layer.
Because Udio produces studio-quality stereo mixes, the source separation step typically isolates the guitar bed cleanly before pitch tracking begins. The pop content above describes the genre's common chord vocabulary and techniques, which our chord recognition and technique annotation models are tuned for.

Same pop sound, other AI sources
The transcription pipeline accepts audio from any AI music generator. If your pop track came from somewhere other than Udio, start here:
The pipeline detects the tuning automatically before transcribing. Common pop tunings (Standard E, Half-step down (for vocal-friendly keys)) are all supported. If detection picks the wrong tuning, you can override it from the song view.
Yes. Pop techniques (Strumming patterns, Capo use, Arpeggiated verses, Doubled rhythm guitars in choruses) are annotated when the audio signal supports detection. Bend amounts, palm-mute markers, and hammer-on / pull-off links are written into the tab where the model is confident.
Yes. The transcription output is private to your account and is not redistributed. Review Udio's terms of service for any restrictions on downstream use of your generated audio.
Higher-quality stems and cleaner mixes always transcribe better. Udio's standard output is mp3-equivalent quality, which our pipeline handles without issue.
Pro accounts support songs up to 15 minutes. Free accounts are limited to shorter songs; check the upload page for the current free-tier ceiling.
